Thigh High Custom Riding Boots

Would there be any excitement for women in THIGH HIGH actual English Riding boots? These shown are obviously custom made and wonder if anyone has photos with women riders wearing them. I will post what photos I have, obtained from auction sites and custom manufacturers. I would love to see women wearing these stiff-shaft boots and not the flimsy fashion styles.

THE BLACK BOOTS where more for formal classes at shows. The second photo IS GREAT! A little much, but :) THOSE high heels:( There are some fashion boots that "look" like RIDING BOOTS, but just are too frail.

More brown thigh highs and a rear view. We'll just have to imagine a beautifully shaped woman in tight breeches wearing these and we'd never let her take them off... just peel the breeches down!

FOR THE HIGH HEEL LOVERS .... combine the riding boot image with towering high heels and that's about more than I can stand... I know, I know they're not as stiff as riding boots but neither is PVC or rubber... it's the LOOK that does it for me! And red is the color for danger!

While I like MOST of THE BOOTS, I wonder if YOU have ANY idea of the PAIN wearing THOSE BROWN BOOTS would cause? THEY look SO STIFF! Breaking in TALL BOOTS IS PAINFULL to the back of the knees and NOT just for a short time! Once THE BOOTS have "dropped" THEY are fit to wear. High stiff BOOTS ARE NOT ALWAYS A JOY TO WEAR. O.K. standing or riding with a LONG stirrup. Nice to look at ,but THEY can be a BITCH untill THEY ARE PART OF THE WEARER.

They ONLY LOOK UNCOMFORTABLE! I actually designed and owned a pair of these Effingham boots.... the plant made them with a measurement form I designed. When they are brand new, they look stiffer than they really are. If you wear boots, you know that the ankles are ONLY stiff until you break them in... THEN they are as soft as butter and it's the same with the knees...once they bend it's like bending paper... I wear these boots in the winter under my trousers sometimes and I love the feel of them all the way up the leg and I can go anywhere and no one but me knows I have them on. If you're a boot lover, you haven't lived until you wear a pair of thigh high boots. The leather lining only makes them LOOK stiffer than they are. These are right out of the box, but after 30 minutes of wrinkling at the ankles and the knees, they are totally comfortable and if you wore them OVER breeches you would barely feel them. Trust me. I've had at least 5 pair through the years, selling only the ones my feet outgrew, due to gained weight.

THESE BOOTS look like THEY have never been WORN? I can only take what YOU say as fact. A very tall knee high BOOT can be painful until IT falls. Some riders will wear THEM every where until THEY fall. A heavy rider will have the BOOTS right rather quickly a light rider will take longer. BOOTS you can find BOOTS 14 16 18 inches and more. Many people can wear off the shelf BOOTS with no trouble. That can save money. The BOOTS YOU LIKE ARE NOT OFF THE SHELF. As I said before I like the brown ONES. However THEY are not for me. This is NOT a put down. I can NOT say ANYTHING BAD ABOUT A REAL RIDING BOOT LOVER.! I CAN SAY ********* ABOUT THOSE**** high heel boots! HATE them!

If you have the money just about any BOOT maker can make what you want. Sometimes a maker will make a DISPLAY item. These could be either one or the other. I like the BROWN BOOTS:) Do not favor how long THEY are. That is just me.

My first pair were made by Dehner's in Omaha Nebraska and since they did not seem to want to make them in real leather, they made them in a fake leather they call "Dehcord". They were stiff to break in but they did and they were comfortable but Decord will crack where they bend, in time, so all the next pairs were real leather, some made by Der-Dau who made 2 pair for me and many pairs for other people (you have to tell them to make the shafts roomier than they ususally like to make shafts. The last pairs I had were made by a company no longer in business... Effingham and the best fitting of them all. I had designed special order forms for them and they used my measurements to make the patterns. You have to allow at least one extra inch to your calf measurement and at least 2 extra inches at the knee for bending room. If you use MEDIUM still lining, they break in quickly and are very comfortable. The first brown ones were with a medium soft lining and you can see that they were not stiff at all. For doubleD, if the lining is not too stiff and you have the extra room at the knee, once they bend a few times over 2 or 3 wearings you hardly know you have them on. At the top of the boot you should allow about 2 inches over your measurement to accomodate clothing worn inside.
As to the reader (Twin) who says they appear to be fake, it's because some of the photos have been copied, reduced or enlarged a generation or two and get a digital look when enlarged again. Today, the best bet for getting them would be Der-Dau or Dehner, as very few bootmakers want to make them. Konigs will make the Spanish boot like the Lippizaner riders wear. The ones shown on the model were made by Effingham (closed about 5 years ago) Good Luck!
