Boot Garters

Just a few gentle suggestions from a boot garter wearer...

English riding boot garters should be strapped around the leg just above the top of the boot, not above the knee as the lovely June has chosen to wear them.

Looking from the side you should see the leather strap just above and running parallel to the top of the riding boot. The buckle should be facing to the outside. Of course, when in the saddle (or seated in a comfortable chair with booted legs casually crossed) the garter straps do tend to ride up slightly. I've included a few images to make things clearer.

I find properly worn boot garters to be the perfect complement to an attractive pair of tall English riding boots. Don't you agree?

Way back when we did not have the elastic fabrics, breeches used buttons and lacing to pull the breeches at the calf tight, then a button would hold the garter above the top of the BOOT. in many cases. No buttons or laces now. Well, yes, on field boots and zips too. Riding boots are looking more and more like leather stockings. I for one say NUTS!
