Jodhpurs vs Breeches

Can someone tell me why this Forum continually calls Breeches as Jodhpurs.

Breeches are worn with tall boots, that which we all love. Jodhpurs reach down to the ankle and are worn with low cut boots or paddock shoes.

Granted that Jodhpurs show off a womans figure, but Breeches & Boots, thats a different world.

these are breeches.

Please can anybody tell me the correct difference between Jodhpurs and breeches? Best with pics. Thank you.

Increasingly these days, the common (UK at least) usage is to use jodhpurs to mean both, at least when applied to everyday riding attire. You would be more specific when describing competition clothing.

Resistance is worthwhile if you want to keep the distinction. But jodhpurs is such a cool word people probably like to use it whenever possible.

If you go to ANY tack shop here in the U.S. and ask for jodhpurs THEY are what you will be shown. At one time both jodhpurs and breeches could be bought with or with out flair. I do wish I knew what YOU are saying gboots. I think it might interest me.
