Not fond of the boots

I am not fond of the skinny "form-fitting" boots with extra thin leather that probably zip (hate zippers or laces!). I think serious riders should bite the money bullet and buy either custom or semi-custom Konigs, Petrie or Cavallo with a military stiff lining (always full-lined shaft). Dehner's are nice but, would you believe, their feet don't fit the human foot as well as the other brands. Derby also makes a nice stock boot that's very handsome but you don't see them as much.

'Serious riders' do indeed buy the appropiate boots for their needs - the stiff Konings, Cavallo etc you menetion are however not appropiate whilst jumping (only dressage) due to the stiff boots making it incapable to keep your heels down whilst in jump position. In other words the people who don't follow your philosophy and buy field and soft leather boots for the intention of jumping are indeed the actual 'Serious Riders'...

Don't mind zipped boots, like the close fit they give
I SIT (in the saddle) corrected.

I'll admit, I do like the LOOK of the boots without laces or zippers and I do not think the close fitting boots LOOK as sexy as the straignt shafts.
However at the local Steeplechase, all the jumpers appeared to have the laceless Cavallos which are what I would call not "military" stiff but medium stiff. I also realize that "serious" riders don't buy footwear for appearance or they would never sell a pair of paddock boots which look rather orthopedic or corrective.
I'll also admit my philosophy is based on how sexy they appear, rather than the function, in my humble opinion. It follows my attitude about design... the less adorned a ladies footwear (ie: laces, bows, zippers, toe caps or perforations) the better the look. That goes for flats or stilleto heels as well. All IMHO. The new fashion lace shoes for women this season look very "old-lady school teacher" complete with the clunky heel. (from a genuine "leg man")

Got to admit about the laced field boots, not to keen on them.
Do like the straight legged normal riding boots, but sometimes feel that zipped boots can closely follow the shape of the leg which i quite like
